Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

PetTab is a Chrome browser extension developed and maintained by an independent developer. Contact: hervezengue449@gmail.com

2. What Data PetTab Accesses

PetTab uses the following browser permissions:

• storage — To save your virtual pet's state (name, level, XP, mood, accessories, and activity history) locally on your device using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local API. This data never leaves your device.
• tabs — To detect when you open or close tabs, which triggers your pet's animations, mood updates, and activity tracking. No tab URLs, titles, page content, or browsing history are read or stored.
• activeTab — To display the pet overlay and interaction buttons on the currently active page. No page content, text, or media is read or processed.
• alarms — To schedule periodic background tasks such as daily stat resets, pet hunger/mood updates, and level progression checks. No data is collected or transmitted during these tasks.

3. What Data We Do NOT Collect

PetTab never collects, processes, or transmits:

• Your browsing history or visited URLs
• Personal identification information (name, email, address)
• Financial or payment information
• Location data
• Cookies or tracking data from websites you visit
• Keystrokes, form inputs, or clipboard content
• Any data to external servers, analytics platforms, or third parties

4. Local Storage Only

All pet data — including your pet's name, level, XP, mood, equipped accessories, and activity history — is stored exclusively in Chrome's local storage on your own device (chrome.storage.local). This data:

• Never leaves your device
• Is not synced to any server (unless you use Chrome Sync, which is Google's feature, not ours)
• Can be deleted at any time by removing the extension

5. In-App Purchases (Pro Version)

If you choose to purchase the PetTab Pro version, the payment is processed entirely by Stripe — a third-party payment processor. PetTab does not see, handle, or store your payment details.

After a successful payment, a Pro activation flag is stored locally in your extension. No account is required.

6. No Analytics, No Tracking

PetTab does not use any analytics services (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.), advertising networks, or tracking pixels. We have no way to see how you use the extension.

7. Children's Privacy

PetTab does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The extension is not directed at children and does not require any account creation or personal information.

8. Data Security

Since all data remains on your device and no data is transmitted to external servers, the security of your pet data depends on the security of your own device and Chrome profile.

9. Changes to This Policy

If we make significant changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of PetTab after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

10. Your Rights

Since we collect no personal data, there is nothing for us to provide, correct, or delete. You can remove all locally stored pet data at any time by uninstalling the extension or clearing Chrome's extension storage.
